Visa Tips for Bangladeshi Travellers: What Actually Gets Applications Approved

After processing more than 12,000 visa applications from our Gulshan office, our visa desk has seen every kind of file — from rock-solid to heartbreakingly thin. Here is what we have learned about what actually moves the needle.

1. Your bank statement tells a story, not a number

Embassies do not just look at the closing balance. They look at movement — regular salary credits, sensible daily balances and no large unexplained deposits the week before you apply. A statement showing ৳50,000 saved steadily over six months reads better than ৳5,00,000 deposited suddenly.

2. The NOC letter is not a formality

For employed applicants, a no-objection certificate on company letterhead — stating your position, salary, tenure and approved leave dates — is one of the strongest ties-to-home documents you can submit. Self-employed travellers should mirror this with trade licence, TIN and bank solvency certificates.

3. Write a one-page cover letter — seriously

A short, factual cover letter that says who you are, why you are travelling, where you will stay, who pays, and when you will return helps the visa officer process your file faster. Faster processing rarely means rejection.

4. Book realistic itineraries

Day-by-day hotel bookings that match your flights show planning integrity. Contradictions — a Paris hotel but a Rome-only flight, for example — are red flags.

5. Apply early, always

Schengen files can be lodged up to six months ahead. We recommend at least four weeks before departure for Europe and two weeks for Southeast Asia.
